What is Young Stars?
Young Stars NZ began with a small pilot programme of just 14 young performers and has now grown into a nationwide movement inspiring more than 200 Kiwi kids on our national tours.
At its heart, Young Stars NZ is about far more than singing, dancing, and performing — it is about building confidence, resilience, and courage in young New Zealanders.
We believe every child deserves the chance to feel seen, valued, and capable of achieving incredible things. Through the performing arts, our students learn to be brave enough to step onto the stage, strong enough to believe in themselves, and courageous enough to chase their dreams both on and off the stage. Young Stars NZ is helping shape the next generation of confident, creative, and inspiring Kiwi kids who are ready to make their mark on the world.
Young Stars NZ is an exciting performing arts experience designed for young people who love to sing, dance, act, perform, and build confidence.
Whether your child is already passionate about the stage or simply looking to try something new, Young Stars NZ provides a fun, supportive environment where young performers can develop their skills, make new friends, and grow in confidence.

Who Can Join?
Young Stars NZ is open to young people aged 8–18 years who have a passion for performing or are keen to explore the world of musical theatre and stage performance.
Why Young Stars NZ?
At Young Stars NZ, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to shine. Our programmes are designed to inspire creativity, encourage self-expression, and help participants develop valuable life skills both on and off the stage.
Places are limited at each programme, so we encourage families to register early to avoid missing out.
The Showcase Concert
The weekend concludes with a showcase concert where participants present everything they have learned.The showcase is a celebration of effort, growth and achievement. It gives young performers the opportunity to experience the excitement of performing in front of a live audience while sharing their accomplishments with family and friends.
The showcase is designed to be an encouraging and uplifting experience for every participant, regardless of previous performance experience.
What to Bring
Participants should bring:
• Morning tea
• Lunch
• Extra snacks for throughout the day
• A named water bottle
• Comfortable clothing suitable for movement and performance activities
• Closed-toe shoes suitable for active participation
• A printed programme booklet (where supplied)
Children are encouraged to bring enough food to keep their energy levels up throughout the day, as performing arts activities can be physically demanding.
Showcase Dress Code
For the final performance, participants will usually be asked to wear a simple showcase outfit.
In most locations this will consist of:
⚫ Bright Plain Coloured Top
Black Pants or Shorts
👟 Shoes should be tidy and suitable for movement.
💇 Hair should be neat and secured away from the face where possible.
✨ A touch of sparkle or personality is welcome, provided it does not distract from the performance.
Specific dress code details will be provided before each programme.
Parent Information
Young Stars is generally operated as a parent drop-off programme.
Parents and caregivers are required to sign participants in at the beginning of each day and collect them promptly at the conclusion of the programme.
A short parent briefing will be held at the start of the programme to provide important information and answer any questions.
